Literacy

Mrs.Emily Anderle
Emily AnderleI’m Emily Anderle. I became a literacy teacher because I believe in the power of words to make the world a better place and because I love a good story. This is my 15th year teaching at Riverside. I’m married and have three sons, William (10), Luke (7), and Jack (1). When I’m not at school, I like to play pickleball, ski, and read on my porch.

Katy Tischler

Hi, I’m Katy Tischler and am so excited to get to know Riverside students and do mathematics with them. I love teaching math because students learn through practicing it and digging into real problems, and because it’s amazing seeing their growth when they do this. I’m new to Riverside, but have 18 years experience in education, 12 of which were spent in the classroom and the others tutoring and supporting administration. I grew up in Brooklyn, New York, but studied education at the University of Northern Colorado where I received my Masters degree. I have lived on the Western Slope for 21 years now and love experiencing everything our unique location has to offer. My nine-year-old son attends elementary school in New Castle, and my eighteen-year-old son is heading off to college in Santa Clara, California. In addition to teaching and spending time outside, I enjoy cooking, reading, spending time with my family, friends, and pets, traveling, and learning new things.

Social Studies

Mr. Bryan Gall

Bryan GallBryan Gall here! I’m a Chicago Native that’s lived in Colorado for over the last twenty years. I’ve been in New Castle since 2003. This is my twenty fourth year teaching; I’ve spent time teaching in Glenwood Springs, Coal Ridge High School, and I’m happy to call Riverside my home. I teach 7th grade Social Studies which focuses on ancient word history and outdoor education.

I live with my partner Amy, my two wonderful children, my partner’s amazing daughters, and a menagerie of pets. Feel free to say hello if you see us riding bicycles to school. You might run into me outdoors climbing with the Titans of Climbing, our Coal Ridge/ Riverside climbing club, mountain biking on the wonderful trails built by New Castle trails, floating the river by paddle board or raft, or snowboarding in the backcountry, at Snowmass, or Sunlight mountain. Don’t forget to be awesome!

Science

Mr. Bob Stewart
Robert StewartMy name is Bob Stewart and I teach 7th Grade Science. While I have lived in Western Colorado for the last 30 years, I spent most of my youth living overseas from Africa to Asia.  This is my 16th year at Riverside; 2 years teaching math and the last 14 years teaching science.  Prior to Riverside I spent several years teaching high school level science.  My degree is a Bachelors of Science in General Biology from Fort Lewis College in Durango. Besides teaching I love to travel, raft, SCUBA dive, cook, fly fish, and tie my own flies. On most weekends you can find me float fishing the Colorado or fishing a lake on the Grand Mesa.

Ms. Charlotte McKinley

Charlotte McKinleyHi I’m Charlotte McKinley, and I teach 7th grade science. Before I was a teacher I used to do cancer research at Sloan Kettering in New York City.  While I loved doing research, I have found that my greatest strength is getting kids as excited about science as I am, and perhaps one day they will be the ones who cure cancer.  When I am not geeking out on science with my students, you can find me hiking the nearby trails with my two German Shorthair Pointers, my 5 year old daughter, my partner Peter, and occasionally with my two older children Evelyn (16), and Owen (18). I am thrilled to be back home, and to be at Riverside!
