Mr. Miner
DeWayne Miner

I’ve been a teacher for 17 years and love it.  Teaching is one of my greatest passions next to loving my wife and family.  I have a 10 year old son, John, and 12 year old daughter, Grace, who are amazing kids. My incredible wife, Karen, works in orthopedics at Grand River Health in Rifle.  I grew up in a large family (7 brothers and sisters) in rural America. I have been a competitive runner for most of my life and still really enjoy it.  If I can’t be reached it’s probably because I am out in the mountains exploring and adventuring in the great outdoors.

Mrs. Zawel
Marie Zawel

Marie Zawel was born in Wisconsin to a sixth grade teacher and a mom who worked at Hazelden Clinic. Marie attended the University of Wisconsin-River Falls after high school, receiving a B.S. in English. She moved to California after college, staying for a year in beautiful but expensive Marin County. From 1997 until 2020, Arizona was home. Marie began her educational career in September 1997 at a private school where she was an administrative assistant. She continued working in education, earning her teaching license in 2008. In twenty-five years, Marie has been lucky to gain much expertise in many facets of educating youth. Along with her love of teaching and children, Marie adores reading, watching her beloved Green Bay Packers, traveling with her husband, snuggling her Birman cat, and visiting her daughter and other family in Arizona and Wisconsin. She is blessed to be working with an incredible crew at Riverside Middle School this upcoming school year. Go Packers!
