Mr. Duclo

Mr. Jay Duclo Born in Kimball Nebraska - January 23, 1965.

I spent my young years in Minnesota where my father worked as a design engineer and factory racer for Polaris Snowmobiles. It was there that I was introduced to music.

My mother put me in Guitar Class in 4th grade and Piano Lessons in 6th grade.

I joined Concert Band as a 7th grader and played the trumpet (I still play that same trumpet).

The summer before high school, we moved to Hotchkiss CO where I continued in music ultimately earning a scholarship to Western State College in Gunnison where I completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education. My first teaching job was in Ridgway CO followed by several years in Cedaredge. Fifteen years ago, my wife and I moved to Garfield County and I have been teaching here ever since.  This is my 30th year teaching band - 25 of which was at the high school level. Believe it or not, Middle School is my favorite.

When I have spare time, I like to ride bike, run and play with my motorcycles.

I also enjoy playing in Glenwood Springs’ “Symphony in the Valley” where I’m a member of the low brass section.

Mike SeversonMr. Mike Severson     I was born and raised in the Chicagoland area. Between my preschool and high school years, I not only fell in love with playing sports and games of all kinds, but also found physical education class to be a place where I could get all my energy out and showcase both my abilities and areas of growth. By the time I committed to Azusa Pacific University (APU) for college out in sunny Southern California, I was confident that my professional calling was to become a physical education teacher and athletic coach. After both undergraduate and graduate programs at APU, I was finally academically prepared for what I had already known for several years was my passion. As a rookie in full time education, I pride myself in bringing positivity, energy, and a deep commitment each day to ensuring a safe and uplifting classroom environment for ALL students, not simply those who are naturally inclined to physical activity. Even today, I am realizing that the more I continue to learn from experience, the more content I feel in knowing that I am right where I should be - in a place where I can make a true difference in the lives of youths, parents, and the community at large. In the short time that I have called Colorado home, I have been especially active through climbing 14ers on the weekends! Better yet, I have a little hiking buddy, my 13lbs. Miniature Pinscher named Pirate, whose never-ending energy is always a major challenge to keep up with! I am so thankful for having been welcomed so warmly into the Riverside Vikings community, and I am eager to make meaningful and lasting connections through fostering physical, mental, social, and emotional development within your student. Let's have a great school year!

Mr. Wild
Pat WildHello there everyone and anyone who is reading this, my name is Patrick Wild. As a kiddo, I grew up with two brothers and two sisters that kept my life pretty busy.  My father was in the military so we traveled many places overseas and here in the United States. Being in an athletic family made it easy for me to get engaged in sports but it wasn’t until I was a young teenager that I fell in love with the mountains. For many years up near Crested Butte, CO I was a raft guide in the summer and ski/snowboard instructor in the winter. What an exciting lifestyle! Additionally, I was a camera operator for the X-Games in San Diego as well as in San Francisco and competed in the U.S. Snowboard Extremes, later becoming the Head Judge. Once I was married I knew the crazy life I had been living needed some structure so I went back to school earning a degree in teaching to go along with a BA in business. I feel so blessed to do two things I hold most dear to my heart. Teaching here at Riverside and instructing at Aspen, Buttermilk. Phone: 970-665-7844 Email: pwild@garfieldre2.net

Mr. Andy Miller Andy MillerHi, I am Andrew Miller, the choir director and performing arts teacher here at Riverside Middle School. My family and I moved here from ND in 2019 to live in the beautiful mountains, and so far we are loving our life here in CO!  I have taught music in a variety of subject areas, to ages ranging from Kindergarten to University.  I love to compose choral music and have had numerous works published that are distributed to choirs nationally and internationally.  I also sang professionally in a touring vocal ensemble from 2007-2012. I am so blessed that I get to come to Riverside every day, to ignite that passion for music and goodness in these kids' hearts.
