Cell Phone/Smart Watch Information

The updated cell phone/smart watch protocol will be effective for the 2023-2024 school year. 
Due to the potential loss of learning from interruptions of electronic devices, cell phones and smartwatches can be used on school property, however, they must be turned off and collected from 7:55 a.m. – 3:45 p.m. The expectation is that students check in ALL personal technology devices (cell phones and smartwatches) to their Viking Time teacher, who will lock and secure them for the day. Students will be given their technology at the end of the day during Viking Time.
We firmly believe that these modifications will contribute positively to the overall learning environment and student development. By minimizing distractions and fostering responsible cell phone use, we aim to create an atmosphere that nurtures focus, critical thinking, and effective communication skills and positive mental health.
We kindly request your cooperation in supporting our updated cell phone protocol. We encourage you to discuss these changes with your child and reinforce the importance of responsible technology usage. Together, we can empower our students to develop healthy and balanced relationships with their devices, ensuring their academic success and personal growth.
